There are many proven methods for making money online with your own websites that require very little start-up money. However, they will not be successful overnight. They'll take months or even years to produce income equivalent to a full-time job.
If that doesn't phase you, there are many sources of free information. Do not fall for any sales pitch that promises to make you an overnight online millionaire if you fork over $47 or $97 or $497. Those products are mostly hyped-up versions of information that's freely available if you know where to look.
The first link in Sources is to a free forum that's a veritable goldmine of information. It will take you days to sift through it, but it's worth it if the idea of online selling appeals to you.
The second is to a site that details a very low-cost method for getting started in online marketing. It's a good method, but be aware that it brings results very slowly.
Here's another direction you might try. If you have marketable skills like writing, graphic design, proofreading, editing, you can sign up at a number of sites that match up buyers of these services with freelance providers. The sites let buyers post jobs, and the freelancers bid on the jobs. Check out a couple of the sites to see how they work. One problem with these, though, is that you'll be competing with folks from all over the world. For some of them, $10 per hour is really a lot of money. So be prepared that you may have to lowball your bids until you build a reputation. See the third link for one of those sites. There are many others.
Good luck!

If you have to pay somebody to work from home, it's a scam.
If you have to do the work and send it somewhere like a PO Box, or spend your own money to mail it, it's a scam.
One of the best home businesses you can do is daycare. Check licensing requirements for your area, and only watch as many kids as you can reasonably accomodate in the space you have. Draw up a short contract that outlines fees, when payments are due, and remedies for bounced checks (if you decide to accept checks). You will need to file quarterly tax returns on your earnings and provide your SSN and required forms to your clients so they can claim the child and dependent care deduction on your taxes.
Many people do it for cash, under the table, and don't pay taxes. It may put more money in your pocket in the short term, but it's also a great way to get screwed because if the client doesn't pay you, etc., you have no remedy to get the money back because you're breaking the law. Track your expenses, such as food, advertising, toys or videos that you buy for the kids to enjoy, craft supplies, etc., and understand that you can write off a portion of your rent or mortgage and utilities as a business expense.
Visit a couple of daycare centers to see how they're set up (being pregnant, you have the perfect excuse!) and learn about how they structure their days. Don't think that home daycare is sitting on your butt in front of a TV with the kids---you should have a place for each client to put his/her things, a schedule, emergency care authorization forms, client information forms that include known allergies and medical conditions, etc. All these things will protect you in the event of an accident or illness. By structuring your home business more like a daycare center, you can attract more and better clients and assure them that you offer the best of both worlds, since you can offer a more nurturing, homey environment while providing the activities and structure that kids need.
Always get paid up front.
Advertise word-of-mouth, build a little web site and metatag it for daycare searches in your area, use those bulletin board things in the grocery store, mention it to your OB/GYN and to local pediatrician's, etc.

Unfortunately starting any kind of business requires a certain amount of money, and I would be very wary of those that say you can start for no cost.
But all is not lost the billionaire Donald Trump has recently endorsed a home based business which he thinks is probably the best in the world today and his endorsement is due to the ethics, honesty and integrity of the company. With this the start up cost is very low and this can be recovered within the first month through the bonus structure. Take a look at this web site www.iolair.acnrep.com, here you will see an overview of the opportunity and you can get further details through the site.

You could become an insurance agent. You can work from home, and it costs little money to get started with. Whenever you get your clientel up, you make a good amount of money. It's quite simple. You might have to take a few "courses" on insurance but they aren't that bad.

One of my friend recommended me a very good matrix system recently called "Our Power Forced Matrix" (OPFM). Thus, I joined the program and found out myself that it's real and legal. Actually OPFM is a group of people working hard together as a team to build a strong matrix, we all shared an uninformed dream, that's why we help each other to achieve our goal. Of course it's not free, I don't believe one can earn money without hard work or some investment. But the nicer part of the matrix is its due is only $7 per month(Almost everyone can afford a $7 matrix), and it requires only 2 paid members on your first level(you can either pay for them or let them pay by themselves) to cover your dues. Matrix has the most advanced pay plan on the net. Commissions reach $11,600 with only 5% of your downline filled. Because I think this program is very good for a beginner who want to start his/her home based business, therefore, I share it here. And I'm willing to pay for those who is serious.
The company is legal, it's inspected by U.S. Attorney for compliance with U.S.regulation.
If you are a reliable and teachable person who really want to start a home based business, I can pay your way in the matrix. But, this offer only availabe to those who are serious.

I've tried Avon and several other jobs and lost alot of time and money that I can never get back. You might like what I do, you don't ever have to stock and deliver ever again. See my profile since yahoo doesn't like for us to relay links. Good Luck! I stay at home with 3 teenagers and one 15 month old myself.

Hope it's cool to post here too.
I have found several legitimate work at home sites so far, and one of them made me $494+ in October, $700+ in November, and $838.57 in December. They are free to join.
Please click my screen name or avatar for more information and a link for proof of payment.
And by the way--never join a work at home program that wants you to pay up front. If they were making that much money, they wouldn't need to charge you.
