I have no problems with free speech, but I do have a major problem with politicians using a tax-free cover of a church to spread their political message. Unfortunately, this seems to be the modus operandi of the conservative movement for the last decade, and these bad apples are spoiling the bunch.
As well-funded as many of these wolves in sheep's clothing are, the ultimate solution will be rather difficult and any legislation to curb these deceptive political practices will inevitably be filled with loopholes. And here we run into another issue: is money equivalent to speech? If so, does that mean an organization with millions of dollars has the right to a louder and longer voice to influence the lives of the people, as opposed to ordinary citizens who will feel the most effect from the policies that this "speech" will ultimately buy?
While I understand the concerns of people who see this as a free speech issue, I would warn you against being so quick to start waving the flags of war just yet: "free speech" for one entity might just come at the expense of the free speech of everyone else. Weigh your opinion and decision carefully against that thought.
