Well, the only member of the axis of evil without a nuclear program was Iraq. It would seem that YES the nukes are a deterrent.

Noooo. It was never Bush's intention to attack North Korea. This has been pretty much evident for the past 6 years. What Bush has been seeking is to create a worldwide consensus regarding rogue states' (like Iran and North Korea) pursuit of nuclear weapons.

I suppose things might have been different if Clinton hadn't unilaterally given North Korea 2 nuclear reactors, from which they've gotten materials to make weapons grade material, but that's the past. Bush, in true diplomatic fashion, has been negotiating multilaterally with NK, with our allies Japan and South Korea and with China. These are interested parties.

It's not the bomb, it's not fear, it's the fact that doing that is not the solution. Claro?

The A-Bomb has been outdated
for 30 years, now. Which is the
primary reason Russia gave up the
cold war in 1991.
They had spent over a decade
building up an attack plan that was
much like pitting a bow against a
rifle.
Iran and North Korea for the most part
are spitting into the wind.

It's not their bomb that is the threat, it's China. China has the most resources in the world for military, having the largest population by a good margin over the US. The UN probably would do what they did with Iraq and take 6 years to get their butts in gear which would leave us doing all the work.

France would scream bloody murder and probably pull about half the UN with them. We might get the UK and Russia. China DOES have nukes that they can land in the states, they just aren't as volatile. If push comes to shove, in spite of China's desire to be seen in a good light by the rest of the world, they would still side with NK if shots were fired, and we wouldn't be able to beat China just because of their sheer numbers.

NK's nukes can't even take off from the launchpads. Most crash into the sea.

And no, Bush is not afraid. Just tied up elsewhere.

Bush isn't going to be attacking anyone anymore - except verbally.

Thankfully.
