An iPod is a type of MP3 player. It's a lot like how a Honda is a type of car.

iPod is a brand name for one of the many MP3 players on the market. It's also the only MP3 player that can play music purchased through the iTunes music store.

Creative and other companies make their own MP3 players

Nothing, an Ipod is an MP3 player, if you get the video one, or the nano ( onto which you can download video software) it also plays dvds, tv shows, music videos etc.
The Difference between Ipod and some of the other Mp3 players, such as the creative, is that the Ipod gets the better name, and has been around for a longer time. In most cases the price is the same.

An Ipod is a type of MP3 player. An MP3 player isn't necessarily an Ipod. Sometimes people who don't know what they are talking about just use the two interchangeably (old people, etc.).

An iPod is a particular brand of MP3 player made by Apple Computers. The main difference is that you need iTunes to transfer songs to your iPod unlike other MP3 players.
PS: Not all iPods have hardrives as Libby902102000 said. iPod Nano's, Mini's and Shuffles use Flash Memory.

MP3 is a type of file. There are lots of players that play this file. Ipod is a type of PLAYER, or name brand, if you will. Ipod is synonymous to the Zune, Microsoft being the maker of it. Itunes are still MP3 format, but are formatted to play on the ipod. Think of it as different cars. The Ford F150 doesn't take the same sparkplugs as the Nissan pathfinder. Did I confuse you even further?

well, the iPod is made from a big company (Apple) and an mp3 player can be made from many different companys. Most iPods hold a lot more songs than a regular mp3 player (my iPod holds 5,000 songs). The iPod has a rechargeable battery, so whenever the battery is low, you can just plug it in and it recharges (you don't have to keep paying for batteries like with most mp3 players)

The difference between an MP3 player and an iPod is that iPods have a hard drive. This is why if you bump or drop it too much it can break, because you can easily ruin the hard drive.
