I am looking for the title or author of a childrens book from the 1980's regarding astral travel and
other supernatural events, it was fiction and the 2 main characters were brother and sister. I can not for the life of me remember the title or the author, but would love to find this book again. It was one of my favorites when I was a young teen.
If you can help, I'd appreciate it!

some details I remember...
the brother and sister sit under a tree to begin astral travel, eventually the brother learns how to travel as a soul but it is dangerous for him... i wish i could remember the name of this book!

It almost sounds like A Swiftly Tilting Planet by Madeleine L'Engle. This particular book was the third book in a series that started with A Wrinkle in Time and A Wind in the Door. The edition that I read in the 1980s had a picture of a winged unicorn with a boy sitting on its back on the front cover.

I believe it is a trilogy of books written by Virginia Hamilton. See if any of these titles sound familiar: Justice and Her Brothers, Dustland, and The Gathering. They feature a girl and two brothers. But they use their minds to travel to other places. They were first published in the late seventies/early eighties. But they've been reprinted many times including the late nineties.

Justice And Her Brothers; Dustland, and The Gathering - In these novels, the protagonist, Justice Douglass and her brothers, Thomas and Levi, and a friend, Dorian, mindjump to a future earth a million years from today, only to find a wasteland controlled by an entity known as Mal. Young people of this dust land speak in sounds and musical melody chantings. 12 and up, Adult, Young Adult.

I agree that it sounds like A Swiftly Tilting Planet. It is one of my favorite books I have ever read. Madeleine L'Engle is the author. Another one of her books that deals with time travel is an Acceptable Time. If you get a chance to read it, the story is very captivating.
