If the Scots/Brits decide that they want to refine that oil and use it exclusively for them selves, the I wouldn't put it past the US in the least.
Don't kid yourselves, folks. This IS the reason that the US cares in the least about anything in the Middle East and Central Asia. This is why the US has never seen fit to sign any of the treaties which among other things, give individual countries territorial rights that go beyond the traditional (when wars were fought with cannons) 12-mile limits. This is the reason that the US is willing to overlook all kinds of other problems in Mexico and Venezuela. This is the reason that the US is extremely nervous about Nigeria. This is the reason that the US is so concerned about anything and everything in Somalia, which "guards" the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea. This is the reason that the US wants to control Iran, which "guards" the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf, in addition to haveing their own oil fields.
Oil IS big business, and currently, the US govenment is the oil industry.
Need I continue?

Oh what a great idea! I'm sure our National Guardsmen would much prefer occupying Scotland: weather is cooler, no giant spiders, the populace kind of speaks English, the women don't have to wear beekeeper suits (although that's not a half bad idea for some of them) and there's great beer and booze! W's buds could pillage the oil reserves and I'll bet the people would really throw roses at us this time! Hoot mon!

Technically that would be invading the UK as Scotland is not an independent country and has not been since the act of union centuries ago.
Anyone who thinks Iraq is about oil is drinking from the tub of kool-aid labeled class warfare. Bush felt Saddam was an unstable kook who ignored diplomacy and dealt with him accordingly. Saddam had no one to blame but himself.
If you think Saddam had no ties to terrorist groups then you're just not paying attention. There's more terrorist groups than Al-Queda who have attacked Americans as well.

Since you seem to be the only one unaware of who's doing most of the killings in Iraq, let me inform you it's not the United States. They are killing their own people and our military is in the middle of all that. We are not for this war, Bush simply took the wheel and is pretty much driving this one alone. I doubt our country would invade Scotland, however after Bush nothing would surprise me. Thanks.

No we will not. We are afraid that we would be told that we have to keep it.
Why would anybody want Scotland? No economy, horrible weather, worse food - and all the smart people emigrated a century ago.
