I saw last night that Jim Webb's son is over there. Does anyone else in Congress have a son or daughter over there? Just curious, as everyone keeps saying the Dems are "cutting and running". Was interested in how many Republicans had their son or daughter fighting.

While this may be a large issue to some people , personally I don't care. My son served in Iraq and in the field everyone is equal - bullets don't swerve to avoid the rich or privileged.

The other side of the coin could be - would you want the world to know your child was in Iraq if you were in Congress? What a nightmare -if this child is kidnapped or killed? Every service member is important - every life valuable. All I'm saying is it would give the media a field day to plaster that on the news 24/7.

To answer your question -- The small group of lawmakers who've announced or confirmed that their kids are now serving includes Johnson, Kline and Republican Reps. Todd Akin of Missouri, Duncan Hunter of California, Marilyn Musgrave of Colorado, Ed Schrock of Virginia and Joe Wilson of South Carolina.
This is from 2003 - so it appears they have been from the start.

that is just as touchy as handleing a vile of nytrogliseryne.
Seems other young people have given their life for their country, but some polititions son or daughter has loop holes that can be axcessed if need be.
