You dont say what type of boiler you have?? If you have a combi boiler then you may have same problem as I had but mine was opposite way round heating but no hot water.
I had to have my heat exchanger replaced which is very expensive, so the best thing to do is join british gas home care, it will cost £29 a month but well worth it as they fix the fault instantly and you are covered for the year, plus after a year it will go down to the normal price of £16 a year.
If you call in a heat engineer if could get very costly!!

It could be to do with the timer which is holding off the central heating, try turning it on manually and thereby by passing the timer settings, that is assuming it is a combi boiler, IE no hot water tank, if you have a hot water tank then the whole Boiler could be the problem and the only reason you have hot water is because you have it stored in the tank, if the timer idea doesn't work then you will need a man with a van to fix it, in which case try and get someone to recommend a boiler repair man to you, good luck

If you are getting hot water but no heating it is likely that the boiler is OK. The most likely problem is a failure of the room thermostat or (more likely) the valve for the heating circuit. If the valve is OK you should be able to hear it go "whirrr" when you try to turn on the heating. If it doesn't, it has probably failed.
I had this problem about a year ago and I fixed it by replacing the valve motor - cost £15.

You do not state what type of boiler you have but if you have a combi boiler it may be the diverter valve or the switch arrangement that is faulty. It could be the room Thermostat or even the pump may have failed.
So many factors to consider that I strongly suggest that you call in a service engineer to check it out and find the problem.
Sorry I cannot be more help.

It sounds the same as what happened to mine, underneath there is a webbed pipe just behind it is a small tap ( like the one on washing machine hoses ) turn it untill the pressure neddle is back in the green area. Then reset.

it sounds like pump problems. if its a combination boiler find pump and feel if pipes are hot on one side but not other . unscrew large screw on front . take off case .then turn smaller screw inside ,this should turn winding on motor ,then try heating again.

It could be any one of dozens of possibities depending on what sort of Boiler & system you have. eg clock, room thermostat, boiler heat sensor, pump, motorised valve, boiler diverter, airlock, low pressure etc etc.
