i want to get my Sanyo 8300 from Sprint (no longer has service with them) turned with Metro PCS. So do i need to just go in to the Metro store to see if they will unlock the phone and do it for me, or do i have to obtain the software to try and do it myself? it seems like the batteries for the Metro phones have poor life and i don't want to buy a new phone right now...but i will try to get a prepaid verizion phone and have it activated through Metro PCS...i really need help with this one. thanks for your help before..eventough i am still not sure how to go about this.

I think Metro PCS is a complete different "beast". It used to be that no matter what you had to buy a phone for them.
Call them up before you waste time trying to unlock a phone they may not let you use anyhow.

If you are in the USA, check out the Pocket or Cricket cell phone companies. Here in San Antonio, Texas, they have a $37 flat rate, for UNLIMITED minues, UNLIMITED Text, and called ID and some other stuff. For a single person, this is the best buy. But I wanted a PDA so I too, was stuck with Sprint. But check around and see if these two are around. Course they may have others that I am not familiar with like pocket and cricket.

As far as getting your phone unlocked. I had tried to do that with Sprint, but they said I had to buy a SPRINT phone. So I am sure that they would not give you the unlock code, as they would lose money. Try Ebay.
