Ollie answers an lonely hearts ad and he goes to meet his new bride in her mansion. When he and Stan arrive his future brides butler tells them she has killed all 7 of her previous fiancees on the eve of their wedding as she was jilted years before by a man named Oliver and all her fiancees since have been called Oliver and she will kill him tonight by cutting his throat and he will become Oliver the eight.

Stan and Ollie decide to stay up all night in shifts to stop her coming into their room and slitting their troths. My favourite piece is where Stan is supposed to be awake and nods of for a few minutes and when he wakes he See's a hand at the end of the bed . He wakes Ollie and he shoots the hand with a shotgun they have next to the bed but it turns out to be Ollie's foot he has seen and not a hand at all so Ollie has shot his own foot.

If this is the film you remember its called Oliver the Eight.
