Grease. Definately the best movie soundtrack ever.

I also like the Happy Feet soundtrack, it makes the child inside me happy.

There are a lot of excellent movie soundtracks. But it is hard to say which is the best. It really is very subjective. Personally, i love Gladiator's soundtrack by Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard. In fact, i like Hans Zimmer's works. Spirit: stallion of the cimarron is also very good; by Hans Zimmer again.
LOTR the return of the king by howard shore is also very good. James Horner does very good movie soundtracks too, like Titanic, The legend of Zorro and Legend of the Falls. =)
Of course, if you include musicals, Phantom of the Opera, Sound of Music, West Side Story, etc etc etc

Depends on what movie you like. I think Footloose, Flashdance, Top Gun, Saturday Night Fever, & Purple Rain all had great soundtracks. It's up too the listener.

Babel's soundtrack was phenomenal, it really added more depth to the picture.

As for the best soundtracks, I think the Star Wars and Superman themes rank as classics.
