In the first lines of the song, Omarion refers to fighting in his current relationship ("Fussin' and fightin', we back at it again").
Then he mentions "memories" of a "girl he used to know". This is where it is easy to get confused.
When he tells us, "I know that, it's my fault, but you don't understand...I got memories, this is crazy.", we understand that he takes full blame for the fighting and that he realizes the fights are stemming from his fears of a past failed relationship.
We know that his new girlfriend is much different, when he sings, "You ain't nothing like the girl I used to know". This girlfriend is "Good with ma, good with pa, cool with all my ******". This new girlfriend clearly "fits" well in his life.
He wants to be happy with this new girlfriend, but his problem is the "ice box". In developed countries, before refrigerators and freezers, an "ice box" was used to keep foods cold. It was simply a big heavy metal box with a large hinge to keep the door closed. Big blocks of ice were delivered weekly. The blocks of ice were placed in the metal ice box. That would keep the food cold enough to be stored safely. My grandma has an ice box that she now uses for decoration and I can tell you, even though it is about half the size of the refrigerators we use today, it is about ten times heavier.
Sadly, Omarion has a big emtpy metal box where his heart used to be. He doesn't know how to forget the past. He cannot get over the hurt and pain and get his heart back in order to have a healthy relationship with someone who is apparently worthy. He expresses this when he sings "I should try, truth is I wanna let u in, but no, Damn these memories, and it's crazy
You ain't nothing like the girl I used to know."
This song is quite a powerful statement on how your past can destroy your future if you have not taken the time to forgive and heal emotionally. Additionally, if you've ever seen or tried to lift an ice box, Omarion adds this amazing visual image to fully describe this incredible "weight" with which he is faced. He has decsribed an emotionally complex situation with amazing artistry.

The song is, of course, about a failing relationship, and features the melodrama and style of contemporary emo. But here's where the "r&b" of this R&Bemo trailblazer comes in: Instead of scapegoating or vilifying the ex-girlfriend, Omarion "really wanna work this out, damn girl, I'm trying," and lists all of her positive qualities. Pure 100% Omarion: he doesn't mean no disrespect. He even said as much in a song.

He has a girlfriend now and they keep going at it because after what his last girl did he is afraid to let anyone else close to him and that is causing them to argue. In the song he says "I don't mean to take it out on you baby but I can't help cause my heart is in the same ole condition that baby left it....I got this ice box where my heart use to be."
