Do you put on a sock then a shoe or both socks and then both shoes?

I blame an old episode of “All in the Family” that I saw as a kid. Archie and his meat head son-in-law Michael were going fishing early in the morning. As they were getting ready, Archie noticed that Michael was putting on his shoes one foot at a time: sock/shoe, sock/shoe. Of course he commented on how stupid a meat head Michael was for not putting on both socks first, then following up with both shoes.

Michael noted that in case of a fire, if they were both halfway through the process Archie would have soggy socks on his feet as he stood outside watching the house burn. Meanwhile, Michael could hop around on one foot and keep both feet dry.

Since that night in the mid-1970’s, the young and impressionable lad that I was started putting on my shoes and socks one foot at a time. I want to keep my feet dry.

I don't do it the same way every time. Sometimes I put on a sock then a shoe and other times I put on both socks and then both shoes. lol

It depends on how awake I am, sometimes both socks then both shoes, that's when I'm really awake. Other times I put one sock then one shoe, as that seems to be an effort on those days, and I guess I figure I sock and shoe is better than none. When things are really bad, I just leave barefooted..

Both socks, then shoes. I usually already have my socks on before I would put shoes on anyway. I have cold feet.
