I just installed a dual core processor in my computer and when the system boots, the system info shows my ddr400 memory as ddr200. What happened?

That is not necessarily wrong.

The real speed will be 200Mhz but since it's DDR , we say that it runs at DDR400.

Go into the bios and make sure the speed of the memory is set to 200, if that is ok then your memory is running at full speed.

Seems as though the BIOS is not taking into account the core speed after applying the multiplier. This is normal.

dual core are two seperate chips working together, now they just split the memory allocation is all. Now on tips to updating go to pcworld.com and they can give you the latest on what to do.

when you turn your computer on press
F2 or F4 (depends on your OS) to open the BIOS --> double click on CMOS information

check the memory size if it's correct and the new memory counted so it's not a problem : )

good luck
