and it seems if your not a brain surgeon or a millionaire then the options are limited or a beckham.but there are some of us brits that would jump at the chance to live over there.

You are clearly not an experienced investor so the only answer is NO! If you have money to invest, refer to an IFA - it can still be changed or taken with you at the time. Many bogus brokers will try to sell you US shares also so beware! One warning I always remember - if an american is willing to sell an american share, ask yourself why as he knows his market better than you do. In addition, there are currency risks as many who invested can tell you with the dollar losing approx 30% of its value in the last couple of years.

Why dont you pay 50 quid and contact an IFA, hardly many investors on this site!
