Legally, no, but any employer is going to do what's best for the company even if they won't admit the true reason for denial/dismissal.
I was employed and doing well in my position. When I told them I was expecting (thought honesty would be appreciated-it was!), I was let go because "the position has been phased out (and you with it, goodbye)."

They legally can't but alot of employers don't want to train someone just so that they can leave a couple months down the road they will give you a different reason. I tried for a new job at 3 months pregnant and I was given the run around. Just If they tell you they won't hire because of pregnancy then you have grounds to take them to court.

No an employer can not.
I was working at a home care place taking care of the same lady for months and one day i was sick. I called in and in the end it turne dout i was pregnant. i was so excited and so i told them and after that they took all my hours away. They said the client asked to have me replaced, i don't believe it because i had been there for months.
They never called me with any more hours. I called them allt he time and they never responded. I didn't have any proof that they were discrimating against me.
But in the end I jus quit and found a new job. I think the old one didn't hav eany insurance or something but the new place hired me quick at five months. And i worked until three days before i had the baby and came back six weeks later and still owrk ther enow.

by law no. But 9 outa 10 empoloyers dont want to hire someone that is garunteed to need time off for doctors appt. feeling sick etc. ...also a person is is going to only be there for 4 1/2 months .
Tell your wife to look into temporary jobs. Thats what i did. I was able to switch when i was 3 months pregnant to a full time job that pays great and they will keep me here until i have the baby. Im a temp. filling in for another gal that just had her baby in sept.
Good luck to your wife.

Get an order or note from the overall practitioner retaining you want to artwork purely the 40 hours each and each week and that is it...ask your generic practitioner to jot down a letter to the corporation retaining you want to relax and would't artwork a lot and in the experience that they nonetheless push you, SUE THEM! you're pregnant and they ought to appreciate that!... i'm no longer advantageous in case you'll get a job at 5 months pregnant, they could't truly say NO because you're pregnant, they are going to easily say they filled interior the placement for sure...with out any causes...yet i have heard is somewhat more suitable difficult to get a job at the same time as pregnant.

It depends on the job, if it has strong physical requirements, then they don't have to hire her. But if not...most places would perfer not to hire a pregnant woman, they will never tell her that's the reason but in all reality it probably is.
My suggestion would be make sure she knows she can perform the position and not to put that she's pregnant on her application. Then if they call her for an interview they have to interview her and go by her qualifications. If they tell her sorry to her face then she can ask why. If they say they're going to call then she can ask when to expect a call before she calls them.
But i will say it's gonna be difficult.

By law they can not deny a job just because she is pregnant....but that doesn't mean that they can't find another reason not to hire her to get around that law. Most people won't hire a pregnant woman because she is too much of a liability.

No, it is against the law. However, many people might not hire her and not admit that that is the reason. It also takes a lot of proof to bring a case against someone. Call centers are always good for not discriminating.

Legally they can't, but they might come up with some other reason for not hiring her. I would suggest your wife doesn't tell them about her pregnancy until after she has a job offer.

No they can't deny her employment because it's considered a temporary handicap. However, it would be very hard to prove that they didn't hire her for that reason alone.
