Hey there,
Was just wondering about ultrasounds, how often are you susposed to have them and that sort of thing. I had my first one last night and one today but just because i had some bleeding yesterday.
Could anyone help me out with this?
Also does anyone have any links to images of unborn babies? Like those one's that are done inside you? Just interested as to what my baby looks like at 7 weeks.

Thank-you in advance,

Lauren x

Every doc is different. With my son I was lucky and everytime I had an appt my dr would do an u/s. Some from 5 wks on I had one every 4 weeks until I starting going every 2 wks. It was awesome. I have so many ultrasounds and it is so neat to see how fast my son grew inside me.

It varies by the dr and circumstance, with my 1st one i had monthly due to no weight gain, with my last one i had only 2. If you were bleeding they are just taking precautions. I don't have an image but if you go to yahoo search and type in "images of a baby in the womb at 7 weeks" it will give you the pictures. Good Luck

If you google ultrasound pictures at 7 weeks you will get some pics. Also in a normal pregnancy you would get one at the begining to establish pregnancy and then another between 18-22 weeks. I had one a 6 weeks and then another at 10 because I had a cyst that was causing pain, and then I had one at 21 weeks to do all the measurements and determine sex.

Every ob/gyn is different. Many will do an u/s every trimester. My ob/gyn typically only did one at 20 weeks for normal measurements unless there was a problem.

All you have to do to find ultrasound pictures is go to yahoo's main page (or google) and type in ultrasound picture 7 weeks.

The ones wher ethey put it in your vagina are mostly for the cervix, its hard to see the baby through there because baby is small and obviously hasn't dropped yet.

They usually do one around twenty weeks. And that is it unless they suspect a problem or want to check again.

You are supposed to have ZERO ultrasounds unless there is a specific medical need. Even the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists says so.

" The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends that in low-risk pregnancies ultrasound generally be reserved for answering specific medical questions, rather than offered routinely to all women. "

they normally do 2 ultra sounds.. they will do more in case of bleeding. it will tell them all kinds of things besides just the sex of the child. make sure to take your vitamins and rest even in the early months. one thing that helps is walking too.
good luck!
