The temperatures are above freezing

The melting point of ice (snow) is 0 Centigrade (32 Farenhiet) so when the air temerature is above freezing the snow will start to melt.

However... if the snow itself is very cold then it has to warm up quite a bit before it starts to melt, and even if the air temperature is a few degrees above freezing it may not be enough to melt the snow.

Also... It can be below freezing and the heat produced by the sun's rays can melt snow (something called ablation).

You should be happy that you have snow! We have had nothing but two mornings of flurries, and by 3, most of it had melted. If you are so worried about snow melting, send some my way!!
