I had the last of my five children when I was close to forty. She was absolutely perfect and still is now.

There is a great chance he or she will be normal !! Just see all the many women out there waiting until they are 37 or 40 to get pregnant and have perfectly healthy and beautiful babies!! Doctors say that your chances of something going wrong are greater than if you did it before 40, but there is plenty of chances that women past 40 will have a baby with no problems at all!! THere is a possiblity the baby might have defects but my husbands mom had him at 40 and he is totally normal and fine.

My first husband's family was Catholic. His mother and father had 10 children. The last when she was 46. They were all "normal". He was number 7 so she was 39 when he was born. He turned out to be a jerk but a normal one. :-)

I know plenty of women who had children at 40 and older and their children are just fine, I think it all depends on the genetics of the mom and dad.

You certainly can. Some risks are slightly higher but many women 40 and older have "perfect" children.

More than likely your baby would be fine. But after 35, the likelihood of birth "defects" goes up.

my mom had me at 35 and my sister at 40.we turned out fine!i just feel you need to take care of yourself more just to ensure youre healthy and lively for a young child.good luck!

youre doctor should organise a test for downs sydrom dont worry my misses was of what is concidered a dangerous age and both turned out fine.
