medical science has come a long way but at 4 months pregnant (16 weeks?) the baby doesn't much of a chance. The lungs are not formed and functioning, the development process of all the major organs has only just begun but they are not mature enough to sustain life and your baby will weigh only a few ounces. Unfortunately the complications would be too great and if the baby survived the birth would surely die in hospital.

"No baby survives at 20 weeks or less and only 1% survive at 21 weeks - no baby should be resuscitated at 22 or 23 weeks"

Every baby is different although i think 4 months would be to early, baby's are viable from around 24 weeks and have a small chance of survival with the correct medical care although it is a small chance. My brother was born at 29 weeks and he had to under go alot of hospital care and treatment but came through it all healthy taking into account that was 21 years ago ! They do say health care has come on leaps and bounds over the years so if it was possible then its certainly possible now !!
hope this advice was helpfull.
wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy xx

The babys viablity is a 20 week but the earliest is 24 weeks but this may cause serious breathing problems and the baby my not be able to hold its body temp. if you go into labour at 24 weeks the doc can do things to slow it down for every week you baby stays in the womb its chance of life increase by 6% The eariest i would say if you could get there is 28 - 30 weeks they could give the baby steriods to mature the lungs and week by week goes by in the womb the baby gets stronger. My husband and me was a preemie baby and we were born at 33 and 34 weeks when you get into the 30 something weeks then chances improve.

Although everyone knows that having a baby before 37 weeks there is a high chance of problems.. it is true that the further along you are the better the odds... But Sometimes they can save a baby it's truly amazing I guess it all depends my friend had her baby at 20 weeks and he's now 2 although he's very tiny there is Nothing else wrong with him.. But to beat all odds of having the best chance the safest time is 37 weeks or on..

The world record for most preterm baby to survive was a boy who was born at 21 weeks 6 days. There have been a handful of 22 weekers make is (not many) sometimes a 23 weeker will make it but most hospitals wont recusitate before 24 weeks.

Some girl had her baby at four months. The baby stayed in the hospital for 5 months. The baby grew quick so she went home.

i know of people who have had a baby at 24 wks but honestly if you think your going into labor get to a medical facility they will put you on drugs to stop you and put you on bedrest to keep that baby in there as long as possible im dealing with the same thing except im not going into labor my baby will be small and will be taken out by c-section before term most likely becuase he grow due to my placenta being abnormal well good luck and i hope this helps talk to your doc about getting the medicine if you have started and they can stop labor . well good luck bye
