Is this possible?
I have been testing for ovulation using test strips every day since about day 12. My cycle on average is 33 days. Based on thre fact that my last cycle started on 04/01/07 I guessed my ovulation would be between 18th - 23rd of January. I noticed the clear slippery stuff on Saturday evening (20/01/07). However the ovulation tests have shown as negative every day. I'm confused please help. Does this mean I have not yet ovulated?

hey, i've every sympathy with you. I've tried all sorts of home tests and they don't always give you the results you want or that seem to make sense. I have a cycle that's anything from 31-50 days and haven't a clue when i'm ovulating. It's easy for people to say relax and just let nature take its course but when its been months it can be really frustrating. Best of luck and try as hard as you can to keep sane about it!

You actually normally ovulate 14 days before your next period is due so in effect that would be on Day 19 of your period based on a 33 day cycle. I make that around January 22nd. However you said your average cycle is 33 days. If your periods go longer than 33 days then that could mean you haven't yet ovulated. Look at your cycle lengths from shortest to longest. Count back 14 days from both numbers. You may end up with possible ovulation times from day 14 to day 20. These days will be the ones when you're more likely to get pregnant. Then the more fun way, and far less clinical, is just to have sex every other day in this time period and see what happens. Put away the ovualtion sticks for now and go for it. Also I find that I get more frisky around the time I ovulate so if it's the same for you go for it!

Good luck!

The date of ovulation is usually 10 - 14 days before the start of your period, which means if your cycle is 33 days then you might ovulate anywhere between day 19 - 23. This 10 -14 day period after ovulation is called the luteal phase. However, the ovulation predictor test are not always accurate. If you have very regular periods your best bet is to have sex every other day on the week when you suspect you have ovulated. To check and see if you have ovulated, I would recommend charting your basal body temperature. The cervical mucus is only an indicator that your body is preparing to ovulate. Sometime we have cycles where we do not ovulate, so definitely start tracking your temperature. See babyhopes.com for instructions. Have fun with it... no stress!

Stop trying to get pregnant. When you stop doing tests and stressing over concieving, it will happen. Have sex when and where you want to. The rest will take care of itself. I tried for two years and finally gave up, I was pregnant 2 months later. Just let it happen naturally. No testing, and no stress.

listen, everyone should know this as these tests are rubbish and a rip off money.

the best time to conceive is from 2 weeks before your period.
