This computer is so slow, I want to add more memory. I was told that it cannot be done. Can someone help?

Looks pretty un-upgradable to me.

The specs for the range are on: htthttp://support.gateway.com/support/supinfo/index.asp?pg=2&file=pro_2.html

Most models come with one 64Mb PC100 memory card and no spare slots. It may be possible to put in a bigger PC100 memory stick, but it's possible the BIOS is customised so it won't accept more than 64Mb. Some models come with 2 slots and will take up to 256Mb... but they must have a way in to the memory, so I guess yours isn't one of them.

It looks like a right nightmare to dismantle... it's probably clip-together case with some hidden screws but it's kind of an 'appliance' PC - you get what you buy, you don't get anything more. And the real nasty is that it's an all-in-one so it's not like trying to buy a new base unit for your screen, it's more like trying to replace a laptop.

As a Celeron 433/500 or PIII 500 it's never going to be a speed-king anyway and with only 64Mb it'll be even worse.

Don't try to run XP or Vista on that... it will be unusably slow. You'll find Linux now expects more memory than you've got (well, versions I've looked at as standard intalls need more than 64Mb...)

It must be possible because EDGE has an offering for upgrades. See:
