Media is good .... look at how there has been a gradual, but distinct, change in the use of language in both tabloid and broadsheet newspapers.
I worked for a large newspaper for a number of years and was appalled by the poor use of language - but I'm a purist, and they received no complaints despite the fact that headlines and body copy read like they were written by poorly educated children!

Look at something in the media that is of interest to you.
My dissertation was on a popular media text and how different characters/different social groups were represented. It was interesting and I got a first.
