Yes. I budget for this. I keep them until the maintenance cost monthly average approaches 2/3rds of a new one.

If we choose to drive a long distance for vacation, I rent a vehicle. The cost is about the same for one week plus insurance as a one month new car payment. And I have no mechanical worries.

but maint is not cover under warranty, so people with new cars are paying most of that too
