He mentioned abnormal pregnancy and is checking for hcg levels. Then said it may be too early to tell. I cramp and bloat like I am fixing to start my period. I don't understand how I have enough of the hormone to show up on a pregnancy test, but still have to be checked to make sure the hormone is multiplying. I don't know if I can carry this baby. I was not planning to be a mom. I have been on the pill for 5 years. This is a great shock to me and my husband. I don't understand the whole abnormal pregnancy thing. My doctor looked just as surprised as I. Apparently my lining wasn't thick like it should have been and also, I have developed 2 cysts on my right ovary. 6 weeks ago I only had 1. I am just really confused about all of this and I don't know what to do.

You may have a blighted ovum. This is where the sac form and all and you get a positive pregnancy test but there just isn't enough genetic material for a baby to form. It is sometimes called empty-egg syndrome meaning that DNA is missing.

I had one and miscarried it naturally and 2 months after the m/c was pregnant with a very healthy baby boy!

Sounds to me like you are having what is called a Molar pregnancy. In that case you will have a functioning placenta but no baby. You are not really pregnant in the true sense of the word, there is no baby growing. You most likey have what is called a Hydatidiform Mole, it is rather like a tumor and it will produce large amounts of what is called HCG, (human chorionic gonadotropin), nausea is often quite pronounced. The bloating and cramping that you mention is very typical also.
No matter how long you wait this will not lead to a baby in the end. You will eventually have to have a D&C to restore normalcy to your uterus.
Most women are asked to wait about a year after this type of mole is removed before trying to become pregnant again. It does not sound to me like you were working for a pregnancy in the first place so that will not be a problem for you. The mole is almost always non-cancerous but has been cancerous in a small number of cases. You need to be in good communication with your doctor, the next time you speak to her, ask if this is indeed what she is looking for.
Your doctor should be taking care of all of this and there should not be anything required on your part other than to follow her instructions.
I have seen this happen and actually had it occurr myself many years ago. It can be dangerous but only if neglected. Pay attention to what your doctor says and be sure to follow her directions. As I said you will need to schedule a D&C and once the Molar Pregnancy is confirmed that should be taken care of ASAP, there is no reason to wait. Your recover from that should be quick and you will not even need to stay overnight in the hospital.
There is probably information on the net about this although I have not checked.
If I can answer any of your question feel free to write to me. As I said, I had this happen myself and so have made a bit of a study of it. Take care and try not to worry. You will be fine.
Blessings

I understand why he's doing the hcg levals to make sure there's not something they're missing on ultrasound.
Also, if there's a sac and no baby, they might have to do a d&c to get it out if you don't start to pass it on your own.
Sorry this is happening to you.

What is your last menstrual period? Well, it depends ... You could have blighted ova, but maybe it was too early to do the ultrasound exam
