Banks have lousy hours, but good potential for promotion. Hotels have better hours and benefits but I think you get stuck in a rut pretty often.

I've got a degree in International Relations and will have an MBA in 2008. I'm in the USA in Virginia, but would like to travel for business eventually.

Edit: Sorry, when I said banks have lousy hours, I mean that they don't have ENOUGH hours for somebody to make decent money without having to take a part-time job in the evening.

I have to agree with Jen that your descriptions of the jobs are completely backwards, especially in management. I've worked in both of these industries. The hotel business is one where low level managers are on salary because they are expected to work many hours at any time of the day or night. A bank will expect managers to participate in community activities (Rotary, Lions, something like that and to do volunteer work). However, once you get beyond that you're talking about a business with really regular hours and holidays off. Whether either of them could get boring depends on the type of job you have within the organization more than the industry as a whole. If you work for a large organization in either industry you will probably end up being moved around as you move up.

i think that banks have great hours, monday through friday, half a day on saturday, with all holidays off. now a hotel is open 365 days a year and you never get a holiday off and i feel that both have the same potential to move up and eventually be "in charge"

hotel the front table. Im a food market cashier, and its no longer all its cracked as a lot as be. Restuarant Waiter may be somewhat stressful throughout busy cases. economic corporation Teller i assume might want to get dull. notwithstanding the hotel the front table seems kinda swanky, and its a spectacular delicate pastime. basic money it feels like. would get dull, yet a minimum of you aren't any further busting your hump for the money. i imagine it would want to honestly be relaxing.

I would think that they could equally have a ladder to climb. Pick a hotel that is located internationally.
