I tried to drink juice before each ultrasound. The sugar is supposed to make your baby a little more active, but it never worked. The only thing that made my son more active was if I drank a Dr. Pepper before my ultrasound. Then he was all over the place.

Alot of problems women have with an ultrasound is finding out the sex. By drinking a Coke or anythign with some caffine in it, will make the baby move around more (be a little 'hyper')...therefore giving you a better chance at seeing the genitals! Usually when the baby is moving around it's legs arent crossed or whatever...so thats why people drink some caffine.
I did, and it worked out well for me!
Good luck.

No - don't do the soda thing. You can drink some OJ - the fruit sugars are enough to maek the baby more active. Usually they can find out the gender if you are around the midpoint. If baby is stubborn and has crossed legs the whole time - the best thing to do is to let the tech get all the measurements they have to get...then ask if you can go use the bathroom and come right back for a gender check. Often using the bathroom (emptying the bladder) causes the baby to move. I only know one person with a super stubborn baby - and this trick worked for her - she had a baby girl!

They say drinking juice and other sweetened drinks makes the baby more active. I didn't drink or eat anything before my ultrasound and my daughter was moving around non-stop. So I would say if your baby doesn't move a lot, then try it. Good Luck and let us know what you're having!

I heard that and did it before I had my ultrasound with my youngest. Of all the fluid I had to drink, I drank 1/2 water, 1/2 sugary drink (coke, orange juice, etc) and she was pretty wild and we found out her sex! :)

If your ultrasound is only for determining the sex, you probably don't want your little one squirming too much. they need to get a good picture of the parts on question. :)
When i was pregnant the first time... the lady doing one of my later ultrasounds was having trouble getting my son to be active... so she fed me a coke. but if nothing's wrong, it's not really necissary.

You have to fill up with fluid anyway so there is no harm adding a little sugar (pop or juice) to your intake. Of course juice works almost immediately so if you drink it and then have to wait for your ultrasound the effects have worn off. Pop should work longer. Again, no harm and good luck.

If you want to make baby more active drink a tall glass of orange juice(it is what they gave me with my first daughter to get her moving while doing a non stress test) It will do the trick and is much better for you and your unborn child than a coke.
