well, i am not a doctor, but my guess would be either an infection in her eye or maybe an allergic reaction to some medicine or something. One time I was on a cruise and to calm my sea sickness, i used that patch that you put behind your ear, well the next morning I woke up and my vision was so blurry i could not see a thing, which is wierd because i have always had excelent vision. but my blurry vision was due to a side effect from the medicine on the patch. it took me a week and a half to get my vision back. it might be a good idea for your friend to mention to the doctor any kind of medicine she is taking currently. Good luck, and your friend will stay in my prayers!

hopefully, a good opthamolgist will examine your friend.
it could be any number of things and hopefully nothing serious. could be an infection. some people lose sight before the onset of a migraine. it could be a detached retina or a hemoorage of the retina, but no sense guessing all these dreadful possibilities. say a prayer that it's something benign and easy to fix/treat. i will too.

Could be diabetes... well, maybe not in your friend's case, but in diabetes, if one molecule of sugar gets stuck int he tiniest capillaires, the ones that go to the eye, the retina can lose all oxygen, and separate from the rest of the eye.
Good luck! They have amazing technology nowadays!

Most commonly its caused by a migraine. However, it could be from taking medication or perhaps macular degeneration or glaucoma runs in her family. An opthalmologist will know right away, and thats good that she did that.

Probably an infection that has built up over time which she has ignored until it got so bad she couldn't ignore it anymore. Hope she hasn't let it go too long, she could lose it permanently.

Sometimes that happens when you wake up, but it's usually just, you know, the covers are on part of your face or something.

I would advise you to see an optician because the problem has gone on for a long while as your doctor advised you.
