Spermicide is a substance that kills sperm, inserted vaginally prior to intercourse to prevent pregnancy.

I've never heard of tampon GEL.... But spermacide is a gel that is usually in condoms and it kills sperm on contact. So that way, not only do you have protection from STD's, but also since it kills sperm on contact, there is hardly any chance at all that any of those little guys will make it to your eggs.
