South is Mediterranean Sea and North is Arctic Ocean. There are also peninsula in Europe like Italy, the Spain-Portugal, and the Scandinavian (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland), and I think that is why those are called peninsula of the peninsula.

A peninsula is an extension of land surrounded on three sides by bodies of water. Europe is an extension of the supercontinent Eurasia and is surrounded by the Meditteranean Sea to the south, the Baltic Sea tand North Seas to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the west.

On the peninsula of Europe there are five large peninsulas. The Iberian (Spain and Portugal), the Italic (Italy), the Peloponesean (sp.) (Greece) , Scandinavian (Norway and Sweden), and Jutland (Denmark).

The penumbra of a lunar eclipse means "almost a shadow" compared with the umbra which is the full shadow. Penultimate means almost the ultimate. Peninsula means "almost an island" compared with a full island surrounded on all sides by water. Looking at a map or Europe, could you make a relatively short channel (compared to the remaining outline) to create an island? It's your call. Good luck.
