Definitely PRO. There are too many unsupervised minors who vandalize property and do things out of boredom. This wouldn't solve the problem, but it would limit the time they had to get into trouble. What minors need are boundaries and rules. Sorry...but that's the way life works (even when you're an adult).

PRO

I believe the PARENTS not the government should enforce a curfew, not to mention a laundry list of other responsible acts on their part. Each child/family and enviroment is different and needs its own considerations.

Yes curfews are important. For all public safety.

I had a curfew till age 17 (so I told everyone) and so many chores that I was in bed long before that time was ever on the clock. By the time of I was 17, in highschool and worked 30 hours a week, and 80 in the summertime. The only way out or up is hard work.

I had no curfew "real" from 15 on, yet I never told my friends/boss that- since often times having a curfew got me out of some "scary or stupid" moments-I lied and told them I had to be home by 10,11,12 or whatever. I was completely trustworthy and left messages and talked with my parents from the job once or twice a day. I was responsible and my parents "dropped in" and checked on me often. They held me accountable. That was very comforting, my Mom was corny and funny- so it was kinda cool.

As a parent, I take serious issue with Sport or Soccer practice past 8 pm Sun-Thur. Most of all during the school year!

Children up to age 13 need to sleep 10+ hours a night. With Dinner, Bath and Book that's a 12 hour span ( 7-7). Most children have an attention span of "gnats" because we are conditioning them to behavior that way. They need to rest and grow.

You won't see me at midnight movies anymore- so teens enjoy it!

Now what about Adults and Curfews? I strongly believe that if took more care with everyone- not just our own concerns that it would help. The "bar" laws, Liqueur laws and even the traffic lights if those items were considered during the hours of 11pm-4am .

How many times has a woman (late night) sat at a dangerous intersection alone and a flashing red light would have allowed us to be safe?

Under 18 and on the road- well the same agency that issues the car inspection and registration, SHOULD have a sticker on the car of the underage driver. That way the police can ID them not just from their behavior-if it is the family car, then all cars in the house old must have them.

I have no problem with teens or young adults OUT at night, just as long as they are supervised and being responsible. FUN is okay. I loved the late night movies- it was funnier or scarier it seemed. I loved a campfire on the beach and crabbing. I loved playing games till dawn and sitting in the damp grass and being in the backyard of my bestfriend and watch the sun come up and eat pancakes then going home.

I live in a city that has a 11pm kid curfew, that is seldom upheld by the sounds of the skateboarders in the bank parking lot at 2am! So its just a "law" tool to be used at random.

Good question.

Absolutely. I think the age should be 16 and under. If they are that age, there is school the next day and they should be home and ready for bed by that time. Sounds strict? Maybe it is, but I think that rule goes hand in hand with responsible parenting.

Pro, but only legally enforced for teens under 15... This gives them time to explore before being unleashed.
