I want to get laser hair removal done on my upper lip, but am uncertain exactly what it entails and if it actually works. Any side effects?

I had it done and I am now two years hair free and loving it!!!! It can be pricey, but your skin will be baby smooth and hairless. They dont say permananet, but in my case at least no hair growth at all i had bikini, legs, and underarm, from what i hear about face, it is pretty painless, but underarm hurst like hell! Check out the practice and the machine to make sure that they are both up to standrads and if you can afford it, you will love the reults!

as with the other two people, I have also had this done. I have had about 8 treatments to my entire face.I had a hereditary hair problem. Ideal candidates are light skin with dark hair. see comment above regarding the melatonin and the absorbtion thing.

To me the process feels like somebody snapping a rubber band on my wrist. depending on what area you are having done pain level is different. My upper lip kind of hurts a bit more than the rest of my face. If you have issues with pain, you can use a numbing cream. I cannot use that because I had an allergic reaction on my first treatment in 1998 and had 2nd/3rd degree burns.

you can expect to have red irritated skin for up to a few hours after treatment. ice packs and advil help a lot. if you get any sort of scabbing you need to go back to the place that did the procedure. I normally have the treatments done at my dermatologist and he always says to call if I start to get scabs. which means the laser was set too high.

I have had my entire face and ab done in under 30 minutes. It is relatively permanent as far as I can tell. You will need multiple sessions though. Your hair grows in 3 - 4 cycles. so you will never get all of it at once.

Once you do have the treatment, you need to wait until the hair "grows" out of the follicule. Which is very odd. you can pluck them out very easily. or just let them be.

be sure that you do not go out and get a suntan before hand. as the laser could seriously discolor your skin.

laser hair removal has been a saviour to me. i am not nearly embarassed as I was in high school.

My wife and I both had the treatment and loved it. There are some side effects that you should be aware of and you can see those on the site that I attached below. The most important thing is to not get a tan between treatments. The laser is attracted to melanin in the hair follicle and thereby heats the hair shaft and destroys the follicle. If you have tan, the melanin in your skin rises to the surface and the laser heat is absorbed by your skin instead of the hair shaft. Also, SignatureForum.com has a list of LHR providers and has customer satisfaction scores for individual locations. Make sure you go to someone with fairly new technology and with a technician who has done a number of treatments. Good luck.
