I'm a teacher, and I get paid every two weeks, but your wife is wrong. Some people, like university profs, get paid once a month, while others get paid once a week. It just depends on who you work for.

This varies by district. I've been paid every two weeks and once a month. I've never heard of a district paying weekly. Salaries also vary by district. Most district publish a pay schedule.
