for cheap items below about £50, there are very few scammers.
for expensive items, about 50% of buyers and sellers are scammers, although most are very easy to spot.

Ebay itself is safe but pay attention to the feedback. Never respond directly to email received. You can log into my ebay to see if the emails are real and only respond from there. Instructions to join are easy enough on the website.

I use eBay a lot and I've never had any problem. When you want to bid on something, make sure you bid from someone who has a high amount of good feedback. That is the best sign that they are not scamming.

you need to record a checklist with ebay and paypal besides. call ebay and paypal besides and talk to somebody. Sorry to assert even though it feels like this guy became out to screw you suitable from the initiating.
