Yeah.

But Bush cannot "fire" Cheney. Cheney is a constitutionally elected official. He'd have to be impeached or asked to resign.

Bush knew this issue would get dragged through the political mud. They needed a scapegoat - Libby's lawyer admitted that already.

They were protecting Karl Rove - The Presidents Brain

Do you really think Bush and his circle of cronies would let the something like treason threaten to indict the Presidents brain - Turd Blossom

This unanswered act against America will go untouched and unprosecuted until the end of Bush's term.

Guaranteed

Strictly speaking, the President cannot fire the Vice-President. (see what "information_police" posted above) The only means for such removal under the Constitution would be impeachment by the House of Representatives and conviction by the Senate.
It could happen, but I wouldn't call it likely.

Besides, when Bush made that sweeping statement, is was only a recognition of what usually happens in politics--when scandal erupts, the underlings take the punishment while the big boys walk away scot-free.

I only wish that the Valerie Plame leak was the worst of this administration's misdeeds.

If its true.....absolutely!! He's probably just worried that ol' Dickie will shoot him with bird shot from his weatherbe. Seriously though, I believe in Bush and Tony Blair for that matter, but rules are rules, and the vise president is just as accountable as I am, and should be held to higher standards to say the least.

He said he would fire anyone who broke the law leaking information (that is to say covert agents). No one in the Bush administration leaked a covert agent. Valerie Plame was never covert.

I can't wait for Dead Eye **** to be on the stand, I hope he is caught in a lie. Bush would have no say as he could be behind bars and that is a hard place to run the senate from.

hmmm... ask your self why Armitage did it? i'm advantageous he purely did it "by twist of destiny"... appropriate and how did they get verification of it? somebody else had to assert it to.... Mr. Rove? i ask your self what percentage former staffers are going to go back out with each and each of the airborne dirt and mud after the properly of the administration... Powell wasn't very pleased, Richard Clark... now McClellan... who's next?

it was not a leak. Libby is not on trial for a leak. he is on trial for obstructing an investigation that found there was no leak. it is not illegal to reveal that some one works for someone. especially some one so covert that her secret codename is ......Valerie plame.
