Yeah, it's supposed to be finished soon. I heard on the radio yesterday that GnR had to cancel some tour dates in CA to work on finishing the album.
Edit:
In December 2006, Axl Rose released an open letter to fans announcing that manager Merck Mercuriadis had been fired as band manager. He also revealed that the last four dates of the North American tour would be cut so the band could work on postproduction for Chinese Democracy. He also set a tentative release date for the album for the first time since the album's announcement: March 6, 2007.

They really have been working on the album, it has been in the works for years. I cannot say when it will be released, they are saying this year, but we have heard that before.

Axel who? Here's the deal. If this album does see the light of day, who's going to buy it? The fan base for GNR has moved on. This is the same base that now buys big screen tv's and mini vans because they have kids. These people don't buy much new music these days. They spend money on other things like clothes, etc for their kids.

According to Wikipedia it is tentatively scheduled to be released March 6, 2007.
Can't say I am a huge fan but I imagine if they are saying it is to be released that soon they wouldn't change it.

Don't hold your breath.. this album has been a rumor for 5 or more years now. Seems like every year they say it's coming out soon.

The odds of Jesus Christ's returning to Earth are significantly higher than that of 'Chinese Democracy' ever being released.

Yep - I just saw them in concert and to my amazment - it was awesome! Axel was late - but the show, stage and pyrotechnics were amazing.
Sebastian Bach was there too but he sucked. He still looked good but he was a total diva and his voice has gone downhill noticeably. I was sad to see him.

It isn't the REAL G'N'R and no one cares anymore. Axel sued to keep the name and he can have it. He is a Diva if there ever has one.
