Lately (past several millennia) they have been completely quiet.

However based on the fact that their descendants, the elephants, make a trumpeting sound I would guess they did also.

It doesn't - make noise that is. They are all dead now like the dinosaurs. One can only specualte about what one would have sounded like.

they dont any more.... but when they were alive they made deeper, grumbly elephant noises
