The advantage is they get to stay in school! It's not that they want to get jobs, but that they have to get jobs to support themselves while getting their degree. Think about it: A full class load (32-40 hrs) plus work on the weekends and evenings (10-20 hrs), plus as few student loans as possible. So, they basically bust their humps for four or five years and still may have some debt. The advantage, if there really is one, is less debt. But that's hardly a reason to celebrate!

I worked part-time as an English tutor in college. It was great because I was majoring in English, so it was like I was getting paid for studying.

My daughter is on a work/study program, so she has no choice. She HAS to work. The advantage is that she gets financial help so that she can attend the university of her choice!
So, it's not a matter of "like", it's a matter of "necessity".

MONEY...some students have to get jobs to pay bills. Others want part time jobs to pay for the extra tings that their parents don't fund...clothes, beers, etc.
