Not unless you want to live a life of disappointment.

You might even want to think about raising your expectations. If it's romance you are talking about and you just settle, how long do you think it will be before you are not able to put on the act anymore? It would not be fair to you or your fella either. Sure, nobody wants to be alone and its scary to open your heart to a person who you think is right for you because you stand a chance of being devastated. Just stay confident. Easier said than done with matters of the heart, I know.

This goes for anything else, really. If you accept less than you expect, you will lose faith and confidence in yourself. Would you consider this disappointment?

Patience.

That depends how you handle your disappointments. It may not be a case of lowering your expectations, but learning how to handle failure. Any successful person has had to learn how to fail. It's impossible to win all the time. The secret is not to give up. Learn from your mistakes, be flexible. Allow yourself to change your plans when necessary. Colonel Sanders had his chicken recipe rejected 1001 times before someone bought it. If he gave up and conceded that he was a failure, KFC wouldnt exist. Every time life kicks you down, you need to get back up and say, 'Is that all you got?' and keep going. If you dont succeed, it doesnt mean you have failed, it just means you need to change your approach and try again. Aim high, dont give up.

No Not at All my dear! If you expect 100 out of 100 in Mathematics, you have to work hard and try to solve the problems 150 out of 100. I hope you can understand my way.

First try to source the foundation and check it's power of withstand, now come to know it's worth building a 5 storey,
go ahead & build it. Better dont build 6 storey.

The Foundation is YOU ! and 5 storey building is your expectation.
My best wishes to you.
Cheers!

if avoiding disappointment is your goal then lowering your expectations would be the thing to do. if enjoying life to the fullest is your goal, then you have to take some good with the bad.

It helps to have high expectations. However, have shock absobers in life that at times we dont always get what we aspire for. When this happens, dont perceive it negatively or let it affect your self-esteem. Its a lesson and a springboard to better heights. Maintain high expectations but be realistic!

Yes, you should really look for a guy who's unemployed and lazy who never bathes and smokes cigars while you work in an AM/PM for the rest of your life so you can bring daddy home the beers or he'll dot your eyes for you....sounds like Nirvana huh?

That is one of my mantras. But mine says "minimize expectations to avoid being disappointed".

Sin - You should not, unless they are unrealistic or unattainable. Learn instead that all of us experience disappointment and do not let disappointment run your life. We succeed at anything in which we do our best to accomplish...it is in trying that we learn and when we have learned, we have succeeded. MG
