I need a firewire port for my dell desktop comp. just wondering if an external firewire port is better and how are they hooked up to a computer? I'm kind of worried about installing a firewire port on my comp.

If you are worried about internal install then just get an external.
You really will not be able to notice the speed difference between the two. Plus if you get an external you can use it on more then one computer if you need.

I have never seen an external one. Not sure how that would connect to the computer.
Installing an internal expansion card is not a difficult, however, if you are worried about it, have someone help you the first time. Here are some key points for most Windows PC's:
Make sure the computer is turned off and unplugged first.
Open the case.
Look for the PCI expansion slots inside your computer.
Choose an available slot.
Remove the cover plate associated with that slot.
Insert your PCI card. You may have to use a bit of force but make sure the card slides all the way into the slot nice and snug.
Put the retaining screw in
Put the cover back on your computer and turn it back on.
Should be it.

Im afraid that the laptop won't get you lots in any respect. With the fee of technologies being very low now and the credit crunch is happening i doubt somebody will desire to purchase some thing so old. Its all twin,Triple and Quad center now and twin center laptops are low-priced. till you detect a sucker or somebody thats only beginning out with laptop's that doesnt desire to spend lots i cant see you getting any greater that £80 Max a million/2 a gig of ram. Onboard photos so no gaming would be any solid. slow and cheap Cpu. and a poor length H.power. Sorry mate.
