From my past experience, you should always be open and honest about the fact that you live out of state. Prospective employers may need to know this particularly if you are setting up an interview or must attend several series of interviews. The last time that this occured with me, I tried to set up as many interviews as possible in a three day period, and then just stuck around for the duration. Hope this helps.

I find that hard to believe. You have to consider that it is VERY expensive for employers to filter through all the losers and to actual hire and train one good person. They are trying to minimize the chance that they spend time, effort, and money on a candidate that is not going to materialize into an employee. If you are qualified and serious about the job and they seem interested, prove to them that you are flexible and willing to meet them and that you wont be wasting their time and resources. (It also depends on what industry)

No, because they would have to know that you would need time to find a place to live. They might get upset if they offer you the job and then can't start when you say you will because you haven't found a place. It also sounds better because they know that you really want the job if you are willing to relocate.

I don't know, but if you think about it logically, it would make sense as the laws in each state varies. If you aren't sure, then tell your employer. I don't think they will ask you to leave because of that. Good luck.
