I am looking at a profession in communication science and saw that my options are speech pathology or audiology. They both seem interesting to me, but I am wondering which is more needed/more in demand. Does anyone know?

I've been doing a lot of stuff on careerbuilder.com lately and this is what I found out for you. I did a nationwide search in the USA, one for speech pathologist and another for audiologist. In the last 30 Days, Careerbuilder.com found 800 jobs listed for speech pathologist; 41 jobs for audiologist. I didn't know where you were from so I couldn't find out the difference in pay. You can go to www.cbsalary.com and enter your location to find out how much these jobs pay and the difference between the two job titles.

Many jobs for speech pathologists are in the rehabilitation field. Some are in schools. What would be a great way to locate the information you are looking for the degree would be to call your local hospital and make an appointment to talk to a speech pathologist. And do the same for the local school districts near you. Probably larger school districts in urban areas would have them rather than small, rural areas. i hope this helps you

I would go with speech. There are so many kids that have speech impediments that need help. I had to have speech therapy from Kindergarden until 5th grade, and I have no problems at all now.
