There was no clear win this year, and that was the odd thing. Ronaldinho made a case for himself, but then again, a lot of the voting relied on the World Cup, and he wasn't himself in the World Cup.
If France would have won the World Cup and Zidane wouldn't have been sent off, I have no doubt he would have won it, even if he had a mediocre season with Real.
I think if Henry would have shown up in the final of the CL, he would have been there. Since Arsenal and France won nothing, he wins nothing.
There was no clear winner, just a number of players who probably wouldn't have won in years past. The voting relies heavily on international and European play, with less attention paid to domestic play.

No cannavora has never been the worlds best player.. but MJ its World Player of the YEAR.... A year defined by the World Cup and Dinho wasnt Dinho in the WC.. Cannavoro was the leader of an Italian team that lifted the World Cup.

He is not proving his value in Real that's for sure. Some players perform better for the national team a nd other for the clubs. canna belongs in the first group

No way.... He might have got the World cup but for the rest of the year he played in a team that chose their own refs, and payed for them to be one sided and got caught doing it !!
Hes good, but there was loads better over the year.
In my opinion, Steve Gerrard is the best in the world cos he can do every thing including tackles..... He doesnt go missing in big games like Ronaldinho !!

I agree with Kasper--all the freakin' way!!! It was Zidane the one who proved himself!!! He should've gotten that award!!! Or maybe even Thierry Henry!!!

well, he's a defender, and he tried his best, he might not be the BEST, but he was good...but recently, his performance is dropping...most probably due to age...
