First off how much do you want it to cost. If this is an agreed Seperation then you can do it your self. If you have little or no money you first go to the court house and tell them you want to file an affidavet of inability to pay. IF you get it COOL. your divorce wont cost but maybe $100 if that. Second file Petition for the divorce. you will have to pay someone to server the papers to the other party, or if you do know the last where abouts of said person then you can post it in the local paper ( length of time will vary from court to court usally 90 days must pass before you can proceed.gotta give them a chance to answer. then you need to get your final decree ready. To make these documents you can use MS Office word program, you need a template a divorce document so you can see how to write this up. A do it yourself kit cost about 35 dollars and is well worth it. Youll be Petitioner and they are respondent. I have three children and I did this, and tool away all my x wifes rights to the children. I know that sounds harsh I just want you to know you do not need an attorney, But if you can get one I would. when you get in the court room the judge can not coach you thru this, and things will go in a certain order. You need to follow that order as best as you can. I am noit an attorney so i dont know what all the steps are called. but its like who are yall, then why your here, you sure you cant fix this, then what each of you want, then if amicable the decree will become final. so what your doing is this Pettiton for divorce states why you want it and who wants it, you and the kids vs him or her. the final decree is the LAW that will be passed or modified, or denied. So it says He gets this I gets that and the kids do this and that. Now If you take this info and find the DO it your self divorce kit you can do this .

The cost for the divorce itself will run from $200 and up, but there are also court costs, filling fees... The initial cost of the divorce is not that high unless it is contested, you can probably get it all done for less than $700 if you both work together, but if you have child support, alimony, debt, insurance or anything else that is required by the divorce, you can plan to pay a lot more for a long time, so don't just think about the initial cost, stand by to pay and pay and pay...

First off, is the divorce for you or someone else? I know some people ask around for their friends..anyway, if its for yourself you should contact attorneys locally, get advised, then work from there. Usually they let you pay in payments so it won't be overwhelming. Now, if its not for you and you're inquiring for a friend do yourself a favour, don't get involved. Sometimes things work out between couples and you end up looking like an ****. It happened to my g/f...enough said :P And if it's for you, is your marriage that bad? You know people can work things out its just a matter of talking things out and the two of you willing to work at it. I know so many couples that have gone through cheating, even pregnancies, and VD's...and yet they forgave their spouses and moved on. One thing though, if and when you decide to work things out you have to and I mean HAVE to forgive but the key word here is FORGET. You cant say you forgive and keep bringing up whatever it is that brought you up to this point. So, have a talk with your spouse, a long talk and be honest with each other (meaning dont leave anything out of how you feel, and what you've done) basically tell each other EVERYTHING. Sometimes we tend to create catastrophic events when its such a minor thing. Communication is key to a working relationship. And it takes two for it (relationship) to fail. So do realise that, that its as much your fault as your spouse. But honestly, I've always been a supporter of keeping families together, coming from a divorced one myself. It's not good for the kids believe me... especially if they're little. So sit down and prepare a long talk with your other half and stay calm. After all its just talking, right? Say whats on your mind and let him/her speak as well. If one of you is willing to work at it, give it a shot. Who knows maybe one day youll look back and laugh at this and both say 'what the hell were we thinking'... Something got you to marry this person and Im sure love was the major part of it, and sometimes we find ourselves confused by things that are happening, people were talking to. But those things, and those people are irrelevant. The marriage is between you and that person not them or w.e. it is thats happening. Think things through because thats one thing you dont want, to regret it later...and thats what my father is going through now, wishing he never did what he did. Talk to someone you know that has been through it, most of the time if it was due to something stupid they regret it. If its really bad then who knows but even so, I know couples that have worked through the worse of circumstances. Marriage is a beautiful thing not to be taken lightly, as a game. But you know what you're doing....

I live in Georgia and it really depends on which lawyer you get. It can cost from 200 and up. It also depends on whether yall are going to divide the property up between yall or they will do that.

I hope it helps!! Good luck!!

Call the county courthouse where you live and they will tell you the filing fees. So much depends on your situation. Property, kids, etc.
