Freedom? For whom? Iraqis, you say?

Did they tell you they have freedom in the last six years? Do they fill up on Mac D's and watch American Idol until they become obese couch potatoes like all free people? Did their population increase? Are they living forever?

We were not supposed to 'free' them, we were supposed to disarm Saddam. Remember? Eh?

Naivete!!

They don't expect Bush to change his mind about freedom for the Iraqi people. Most just want a peaceful resolution to this mess ASAP.

As long as the violence continues, the Iraqis are not free.

I assume the question you're really asking is why we want him to change his position on US involvement?

Because we're waiting (naively, fruitlessly) for him to realize that we are not going to be able to "free" the Iraqi people with further military action. We've made nothing but a huge mess over there, and the entire world can see it except for Bush and the myopic people who follow him blindly. More of the same will not change that, nor will escalation, but yet Bush continues to sink more American lives and money into this failed effort. Even those who believe he started this war with pure motives (I am not one of them) can see now how large a mistake we've made, and that throwing good efforts after bad will not solve things. We're waiting for Bush to realize this, too, but seeing as how he's so far behind the learning curve on Iraq, I think most of us have given up hope that he'll come to his senses.

In his State of the Union address last night the President stated that the U.S. can't afford to lose this war. Does he not realize that we have already lost? We have lost over 3,000 troops. The country needs him to make a new plan. We need to get our men out of there. Freedom is not what we are trying to get him to agree on. We want a new plan. When we captured Saddam we should have gotten out of there & let them figure it out on their own. We got the tyrant out & that was all we should have done. Now we are too deep into this & we need to resolve the situation as quickly as possible so that more of our brave men and women do not fall victim to Bush's war.

This is my opinion & it is also that of my friends, Iraqi War veterans.

It was never about "freedom for the Iraqi" people. That was just the excuse he gave that worked to sell the war to the American people. Remember, first it was about WMD, then 911, then ties to OBL....yada, yada, yada. The whole war has been based on lies and and manipulations in order to launch an agenda that was put in place well before 911 even took place.

Because freedom for the Iraqi people was not the reason for going to war - the reason was WMDs, links to Osama Bin Laden (a notorious Saddam hater), and the real reason for going to war... to stop that pesky Saddam selling his oil in Euros instead of dollars!!!! Bad Saddam, Bad Saddam.

Mainly because the libs still can't move their puny minds beyond Gore's defeat in 2000 and Kerry's subsequent defeat in 2004. They have no plan and they have no honor. If the President had announced last night that he changed his mind and was immediately pulling all the troops out of Iraq, the libbies would have thrown a tantrum and would have demanded that he double the troop strength. The apologists for the libbies are just as bad and all they can do is dream up these phony things to insult the President with like drug use, etc. It's a pack of lies. They know it and they know we know it but they are so stupidly blind in their hate for President Bush that no lie is too outragous for them to tell.

Yeah, it's always about liberals and the media, right? They ALWAYS screw everything up and NEVER listen to the sage wisdom of our honorable leaders. Doesn't anyone find it interesting that by blaming large faceless entities, you keep those who are truly responsible for things from taking responsibility for their actions? Naah, guess it's really about those evil liberals and their completely useless media minions.

Because it is what many of them would do, just flip flop around depending on what the latest poll tells them they should do and how they should think That applies not only to liberals but to some conservative politicians also. Bush stands behind his beliefs.
