I have been working at my job for about six months now, my boss is great but he will be leaving soon. There is one lady who does not talk to me and she has mentioned that she doesnt like me working there. She is very close with the owner. I am not sure if i should start looking for another job. Any advice??

Do you like the job? Have you tried to talk to this lady who doesn't like you? I had a similar experience at my last job where I felt like one of the girls didn't like me and was taking advantage of me. She was close with the boss, but very two faced, just one of those people that couldn't be trusted. For me, that was enough to get out of there. You have to ask yourself how much it really bothers you, and how important your job is. I hated my job, so it was easy to bolt. How much does it interfere with your work every day? Just because someone doesn't like you shouldn't make you feel like you have to leave. I think that no matter what you do or where you do it, someone will always "not like you", it's usually just jealousy.

Start looking for another job. She will find a way to get rid of you and you will be uncomfortable for your days there. You should be working in an environment where you are 100% comfortable. If you are uncomfortable, you will not perform as good as you can because of your state of mind. Why is she after you? Did you do something bad? Is it a race issue? Whatever the reason is, start looking for a new job as soon as you possibly can. I know it's hard, but you have to make a sacrifice to move on to a better life. Good luck.

Since she is not going to be your boss don't sweat it. Just ignore her. Talk to the new boss and let them know what is going on so he can have a heads up on any conflicts. If she was that close to the owner you would not still be working there after 6 months, so obviously she has no clout.

Don't sell yourself short. Do your best work. Friend of the owner or not - if the owner is a true businessman, he will value your work. As adults, we have to realize that we work with people we don't like - be it a personality conflict, jealousy, etc. Do not leave your job unless the situation becomes unbearable and even then have other job options before leaving. Note* - always have other job options!

It never hurts to keep your options open. Look for a new job, that doesn't mean you necessarily have to take it if you find one. If you find one you like better great, if not you can hang on and see how things work out with the new boss, it could be OK.

It depends on other factors. are they offering more money? are there better jobs in the department than the one you are doing now. this could be a stepping stone to better things in the long run. you perhaps need to have a closer look at the department and what other jobs they do. look at whether there are any other jobs you like the look of. is anyone doing that job close to retirement. once you are in you would be better placed to take on those roles. you are obviously not happy where you are but it is not always a good idea to take the first job you are offered.

If this lady is going to be your boss's replacement, Id probably start looking. If she gets in a position of power over you, your days probably are numbered.

That sucks! I would probably have something in the background just in case. If you're doing your job well, though, it shouldn't matter what this lady is all about!

There's always someone that's gonna gripe. You'll have that at any job. I would just stick with the one you got. It's hard to please everyone...
