I have read that piercing in or near the belly button messes up the centering of your body or the aura of your center. As cute as it may seem to have it, it really can be more harm than good. Plus, you may get hit and regardless if it's covered it may hurt you.

2 weeks is not a long time. If you must get your belly button pierced, wait until you finish basketball. If someone bumps into you or the ball hits your belly while it is healing, it is going to be very painful. Those 2 weeks will go by quickly.

I would suggest trying to wait a couple weeks until basketball is over to get it done. Even if you taped it down, you will have some soreness in the area and with the physcial game of basketball, you are likely to be hit in the stomach (even a slight touch/hit in the area will be painful)

If basketball is over in only 2 more weeks, why not just wait? Then you won't have worry about taping it or possibly ripping it. My friend's daughter is in sports and had hers pierced and then taped it, but it turned out she was allergic to the tape and had to remove her BB ring and let it grow back together. Nasty!

Since you only have 2 weeks till the season is over, I'd just wait. It is only 2 weeks and you have already waited this long.

People who engage in sports sometimes tape a plastic eyepatch over the navel piercing to protect it. You can purchase eyepatches at most pharmacies.
