I mean, would you let them audition, and not even tell them "I don't think you can sing very well"?

Evidently there are hundreds of thousands of people who are not letting their freinds and family know that they cannot sing or they are just lying to them.

I don't mean to tell them not to go. I mean would you tell them "I don't think you can sing".

I would tell them, because I can't sing, maybe I am jealous!

Friends don't let friends humiliate themselves on national television.

The problem is that some people can sing fairly well, but get nervous and then go way off pitch. Pitch problems can occur even for very accomplished musicians. So I wouldn't try to stop a friend who can sing well from auditioning, and whether or not they did well at the audition would be up to them.....

Sure if I didn't like them or if I knew the whole country would be as amused by them as I was. I honestly think some of the freaks on there are acting. There is no way some of these people can be that bad and disgusting. I refuse to watch that show but see the previews a lot when I'm watching the simpsons and seinfeld, I don't know how people can take watching it.

I think you may be confused with how these contestants appear on American Idol. The ones who you see who are terrible KNOW they are terrible - they know they cannot sing. They are not there to impress the judges with their singing ability - they are there BECAUSE they are bad, because they know that the worse they are, the better chance they will be on TV - perhaps the only chance for that bright moment of spotlight. They know what they are doing, so telling someone that they really aren't that good makes no difference - they aren't there to sing, they are there to be bad.

If a friend or family member of mine couldn't sing I would have told them long before American Idol even started.I couldn't let them be embarrassed like those they have shown, it's just wrong.

It depends......do you want to see them make a fool of themselves in front of millions of viewers?? If not, I recommend telling them not to do it. I feel that I can sing pretty good but I will NEVER try out for American Idol because I know that there are so many people out there that are more talented than me.

Even if they are horrible singers, why discourage them from auditioning? Their audition could end up being televised. Look what happened with that William Hung guy. He got a recording contract out of it!

Adele's - Rolling interior the Deep has already been over performed for auditions, same with "Fallin", "The Climb" and "waiting on the international to alter". carry on with some thing you're mushy with yet shows off your selection and ability. & in case you will do a song, learn the whole concern, you will might desire to have dissimilar songs waiting. you ought to pass by 3 preliminary auditions, your preliminary audition is in front of a vast group of judges, then with the manufacturers who then elect in case you would be invited to audition in front of the television judges. this is not how apparently on television, to that end the reason many human beings (myself blanketed) could on no account do a teach which contain this. in case you're confidant, comprehend a minimum of three songs that teach of your skills & selection you will do wonderful. & in case you're going for the country charm, do no longer purely save on with Taylor quick, attempt different artists who've greater difficult songs which will help to teach off your skills. And remember, them giving you a cost ticket might properly be shrink short as they do get rid of human beings off point. additionally, they allow you to be at maximum venues around 5am, I advise 2am - 3am, it will be packed. Be confidant & have relaxing!

Yes. If this is someone's dream, then I have no right to squash it. You may feel that you are doing them a favor by convincing them not to audition, but by doing so, it could, in fact, cause them to always wonder if they could have made it.
People should always be allowed to follow their dreams, even if they don't always end the way they hoped.
Good luck.

I would have to let them. You are right that many are being led to believe by friends that they can sing, so I see your point. However, I know I'd just be like, "Go for it!"
