Because giving tax credits will simply encourage the insurance companies to increase their charges, not reduce their costs. It's a simple law of economics. Increase the available money, and without controls, the cost of services increases. The only ones to gain from such a measure will be the insurance companies.
That's also why they want medicare to be able to negotiate drug prices. When you are a large enough organization, you can use your buying power to force costs down.
Creating a way for all Americans to receive basic standards of medical care, while controlling escalation of costs, is the real trick.

Because Godzillary has been working (secretly, again) on her socialist health care plan and they want HERS to be the toast of the new leadership. Dems want to control health care like everything else. With a National Health Care plan--Hillary and Bill could now have total access to your private medical records -which they could use against their enemies (ie--some popular republican official was treated for XXX would be the leak to the NYT.) Remember FBI filegate? FBI files were suppose to be private too--and the Clinton's illegally obtained them with relative ease. More Dem "Big Brother" watching your every move and prying into your personal life.
Here is the Chronology of the FIRST Cover Up

Mar. 3, 1993

Mar 10, 1993

June 14, 1993

June 15, 1993

Sept. 22, 1993

Dec. 21, 1994

Jan. 6, 1995
Washington Post reports that Holder is under consideration for appointment to federal judgeship
Jan. 23, 1995

When the clintons were in office they tried like hell to get Health Care coverage for everyone. The republican congress fought them tooth & nail all the way. Now, suddenly bush wants to give us healthcare that BTW, will affect only a small percetage of the public because it's only a credit to those that can afford it......sounds like more desperate BS & double talk to try to get his ratings up. If that happens, only the ins companies will benefit, it'll give them an excuse to raise prices. Everything bush does & has done is to benefit big business & the wealthy but disguises it so only the "stupid" middle class believes him.

Because that would take OUR money away from them.
As far as the insurance company debate. Lets go back to where it is competitive to go to the doctor, in other words they can't set a flat fee for visits. The better the doctor the more patients and then the desire to improve themselves would return and less government involvement.

Because it won't help the people that he intends it to help. The poorest americans. They already pay little to no taxes. A tax credit won't help them afford health insurance. It will probably result in a tax increase for everyone else. it will also encourage employers who were on the fence to not provide health insurance resulting in an even larger number of people who are uninsured. It sounds like a good idea, but in practice it would fail and have the opposite of the intended effect.

The truth is, it is has nothing to do with the efficacy of the plan.
They simply don't want to give Bush a victory in anything.
Also, they see health care as a major part of their 2008 platform. Why would they want Bush to fix the problem now?
Its all politics.

He wants to make employer-provided health insurance taxable income.
That will force many employers to drop their health care plans thus causing even MORE middle-class Americans to be without insurance.
Once again, Bush wants to stick it to the working people.
The good news is, it will never get through Congress.

Two reasons:
1. It would lower the amount of taxes paid by taxpayers.
2. Democrats believe in the government making your healthcare choices for you, and this plan allows you to choose your own insurance.
