Interesting...you don't have any women in your martial arts classes? I've taken martial arts since I was 12, and there are always girls/women in the classes. But I will say that it's not about "fighting" for me, I like the discipline, exercise, and tradition behind it.

I think it's to do with our animal traits.
Like the fact that men tend to like fighting more than women is because when we were Stone Age men for example, it was the strongest man who was the leader. Who could pass his genes on to the most women. Thus, although men are changing, we still go through a phase, in our teens, when we try to create our own pecking order in society, we are becoming less aggressive and tend to release our aggression in competitive sports or video games.
Women on the other hand, although this is changing as well, require to show submissiveness to dominant males and also show attractiveness to males, just like some of the birds do in the wild. That is why they tend to like glittery things and fashion. Therefore are competing in a totally different way.
But again, there is a blurring between the two sexes now as the sexes become equal in the fields normally male orientated, women are becoming more aggressive and fights between women and men as well has increased.

I used to practise Shotokhan karate, a third of the members were women.
I can appreciate the martial arts on a number of levels, but as a man, I personally really don't like 'fighting' ~ for any reason.
As for why women don't like it.... You might be talking a matter of 'percentages' instead of the sweeping generalisation.
Incidentally, I sometimes used to go to wrestling matches in my early teens, and the 'number' of women there who screamed and yelled etc ...it had me wondering about the 'Lady-like' behaviour I'd heard of as a youngster, and was that it! or where had it gone to?

I started judo when I was seventeen. I was the only woman in a club of men. I loved the sport. Then some of the younger men became sexual which was a real problem and it also became a problem that I was very good which brought out male competition and someone dropping me really badly on purpose in an exercise when he was instructed to let his partner break their fall. Basically I think men at that time were not to be trusted and although I loved it I gave it up. Thats a personal reason why it may not show up in attendance ratings that I loved that sort of sport but I still do love it.

I'm thinking not all women dislike fighting. I would have liked to have gotten into martial arts when I was younger. As it is, I'll settle for the occasional kickboxing class.
And I had plenty of experience fighting ...it was no holds barred with my brothers growing up.

This is a over generalisation, a good many women engage in martial arts, and there is a program on tv next week about womens sumo.

Women are the gentle sex, it is more in their nature to care for and protect than it is to create pain.
In a controlled environment like martial arts, women are more likely to play a part, as the art of this type of fighting is defence, and women will use violence to protect themselves and their family.

1. Women are just as likely to start a fight with their partner, but more likely to get hurt.
2. In the UK at least, girls have started fighting physically at school.
3. Again in the UK, we're starting to see some of the first cases of women murdering others, unprovoked.

You are generalizing women. There are men who don't like fighting, just like there are men that do. My boyfriend has never once got into a fight. There are also women who like fighting and women that don't. I don't love fighting but I will most definitely stand up for myself. It can be fun if its drama-free. And I love boxing, it just depends on the person as I'm sure you already know and have been told .

OK, thats quite an unfair generalisation to make. A lot of women do martial arts, wrestling and kick boxing. I used to do karate and kick boxing, but I don't have time anymore.
